Declassified Nixon and Ford Presidential Briefs Released

2,500 Documents Now Public

September 16, 2015, the CIA released approximately 2,500 previously classified Presidents Daily Briefs (PDBs) from the Nixon and Ford presidential administrations.

The documents, which were obtained by the National Security Archives through a Freedom of Information Act Request, provide new insight into the national security issues that faced the United States during the early 1970s.

The PDBs cover a wide range of topics, including the Vietnam War, the Middle East, and the Cold War. They also provide a glimpse into the decision-making process of Nixon and Ford, as well as the intelligence that was available to them at the time.

The release of these documents is a significant event for historians and researchers. It will help to shed new light on a crucial period in American history and provide a more complete understanding of the challenges that the United States faced during the early 1970s.
