10 Meter Air Pistol: A Guide to the ISSF Event
Overview
The 10m Air Pistol event is an ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) event where athletes shoot over a distance of 10 meters using a 45-millimeter caliber single-loaded pistol. It is shot by both men and women at all levels of competition, up to and including the Olympic Games.
Equipment
The 10m Air Pistol event is shot using a single-loaded pistol in 45-millimeter caliber. The pistol must meet specific requirements set by the ISSF, including: * Weight: 1.3 kilograms or less * Barrel length: no more than 180 millimeters * Trigger pull: no less than 500 grams
Competition Format
The 10m Air Pistol event is a precision shooting event. Athletes shoot at a target that is placed 10 meters away. The target is divided into 10 rings, with the center ring being worth 10 points and the outer ring being worth 1 point. The event consists of two stages: a qualification stage and a final stage. In the qualification stage, each athlete shoots 60 shots. The top 8 athletes in the qualification stage advance to the final stage. In the final stage, each athlete shoots 10 shots. The athlete with the highest total score wins the event.
