Titans to Wear Oilers Throwback Uniforms vs Atlanta and Houston
Former Oilers Thrilled About It
The Tennessee Titans will pay homage to their AFL roots when they wear Houston Oilers throwback uniforms for two games this season, against the Atlanta Falcons (at home) on 'Thursday Night Football on December 21 and at the Houston Texans on January 1, 2025.
The Oilers were a charter member of the American Football League in 1960 and won the first two AFL championships in 1960 and 1961. They joined the NFL as part of the AFLNFL merger in 1970 and played in Houston until 1996, when they moved to Tennessee and became the Titans.
The Titans have worn Oilers throwback uniforms on a few occasions in the past, but this will be the first time they have done so for two games in a season. The uniforms will feature the Oilers' classic blue, red, and white color scheme and the Oilers' logo on the helmet.
The return of the Oilers uniforms has been met with excitement from former Oilers players, who are thrilled to see their old team's legacy being honored.
"It's going to be great to see the Oilers uniforms back on the field," said former Oilers quarterback Warren Moon. "It's going to bring back a lot of great memories for a lot of people."
The Titans are hoping that the Oilers uniforms will help them to recapture some of the magic of the past. The Titans are currently 7-6 and in the hunt for a playoff berth. They are hoping that the Oilers uniforms will give them the extra boost they need to make a run to the Super Bowl.
