Canucks' Zadorov Suspended Two Games for Illegal Hit
NHL Department of Player Safety Ends Investigation
No Additional Discipline for Calgary Flames Defenseman
Nikita Zadorov, defenseman for the Vancouver Canucks, has been suspended for two games for an illegal hit on Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond.
The incident occurred during a game between the two teams, and Zadorov was ejected for the hit. The NHL's Department of Player Safety investigated the incident and determined that it was a suspendable offense.
This is not the first time that Zadorov has been suspended for an illegal hit. In 2020, he was suspended for four games for a hit on Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri.
The suspension will be a significant blow to the Canucks, who are currently in a playoff race. Zadorov has been a regular in the lineup this season and has contributed offensively and defensively.
The Canucks will now have to find a way to replace Zadorov in the lineup, and it is unclear how long he will be out for.
