Celtics Start Strong, Indiana Fights Back
The Boston Celtics pulled off a dramatic 133-128 overtime victory over the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the 2024 Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday. The Celtics started the game with a dominant 12-0 run, forcing the Pacers to miss their first five shots from the floor. However, Indiana fought back and managed to tie the score late in the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with the Pacers taking a two-point lead with just over a minute remaining. But Jayson Tatum hit a clutch three-pointer to tie the game and send it into overtime.
In overtime, the Celtics took control and never relinquished the lead. Tatum led the way for Boston with 34 points, while Jaylen Brown added 29 points. Malcolm Brogdon led the Pacers with 30 points, followed by Tyrese Haliburton with 28 points.
The Celtics now hold a 1-0 lead in the series and will have home-court advantage throughout the remaining games. Game 2 will be played in Boston on Thursday.
